Background experience
After selling her restaurant in 2005, Barbara invested in income property in the Outer Banks and at one time owned and managed 13 year round rental properties. She decided to learn something a little different and break free of the confines of an indoor business by working summer seasons for a pool
cleaning service. Along with learning the difference between saline
and chlorine pools, and how to magically get the sand out of a spa, Barbara learned how to maintain the equipment and learned the
effects of the elements on pools and spas in this very
salty, very
sandy, very windy climate.
At the same time,
Barbara worked weekends for a local Realtor as a Property Inspector, where her
attention to detail earned her a reputation for always spotting the
not-so-obvious scratch, the little hole in the ceiling from a cue stick, a missing nick-nack, and
sometimes something more serious, like a broken underground waterline
that could be faintly heard but not seen.
Barbara also comes from a strong marketing background and is a graphic artist. In the off season she designs websites for artists, musicians, and property owners wishing to showcase weekly rental properties. Her design website is www.BarbRoche.com.
Combining her expertise in many fields, Barbara opened her own pool & spa service, YOUR POOL GIRL in 2009. She offers both Pool & Spa Services and Home Inspection Services to her clients. When she applied for her Pool Operator License in the Spring of 2009, Barbara was the only one in a class of 76 applicants to receive a 100% grade on her certification exam.
With her expertise in marketing, property management, pool & spa service, Barbara keeps her finger on the pulse of the Outer Banks.
